Peter Nicks, Director/Producer
An award-winning cinematographer/director known for immersive camera work and cinema vérité style. He helmed the documentaries The Waiting Room and The Force, winning the 2017 Sundance Film Festival Directing Award. Homeroom completes a trilogy of documentaries exploring health care, criminal justice, and education in Oakland, California. Nicks received his BA in English from Howard University and his master's in journalism from the University of California, Berkeley.

He was raised in East Oakland, CA where he has been a community organizer for several years. He is committed to breaking intergenerational cycles of trauma and violence in Oakland through his education and his community work.

Jessica is a first-generation College student who attends UC Berkeley and is currently majoring in Psychology. She was born and grew up in Oakland and graduated from Skyline High School in 2021, her goal is to serve Oakland's future generations.
