Working with brands might not be for every filmmaker, but for those looking for additional sources of income or who have a project whose topic and goals naturally align with the interests of a company, it can be a synergistic opportunity. More and more filmmakers are helping brands to create artistic content that audiences will want to watch. At the same time, brands have the financial resources to get a film made as well as the marketing power and know-how that can ensure the film gets to an audience and contribute to its impact. In this workshop, independent film’s branded content guru Brian Newman will talk frankly about navigating the delicate balance between commerce and art and will help a few selected participants to think of creative ways of collaborating with brands for their projects.
